Late Summer at Deer Grove

I can’t do any group volunteering at the moment because I just traveled, but I am free to do stuff in the Forest Preserve by myself.

I was hoping to pick some black raspberries, but I found none in the usual places. Looks like something changed this summer, and wild blackberries pushed out wild raspberries. I guess, it is good, because blackberries are native plants, and raspberries are not. But it is bad for me :); wild blackberries consist mostly of kernels 🙂
